Cycle Of Movie Projections And Debates On Children’s Rights

With regard to the celebration of the 60th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of the Rights of the Child and the 30 years of the Convention, the CRiCity team of Porto (João Teixeira Lopes, Lígia Ferro e Inês Barbosa) organized a cycle of cinema and debates on Children’s Rights.

Each film projection was followed by a debate and focused on a specific children’s right. Sessions took place at the Faculty of Arts and Humanities of the University of Porto between March and June 2019.

Following an interdisciplinary approach to the question of children’s rights, the organisers invited researchers from several fields, namely: sociology of childhood, anthropology, educational sciences, architecture, human kinetics or psychology.

With a special focus on the rights to leisure, participation, education, the city and childhood, the discussions and the films have sought to reflect on the evolution and achievements, but also on the challenges and transformations of the last decades, on a local and global scale.

It was also an opportunity for disseminating the CRiCity project and building connections with researchers working on issues related to children’s rights to the city.
