PhD in Control Engineering, City University of London, recognized in Portugal as equivalent to academic degree of PhD in Mechanical Engineering, IST/UTL (1996). Aggregate in Electrotechnical Engineering, UBI (2009).
Current Professional Activity Higher education Professor since 1987, he taught various subjects, in public and private institutions, in the fields of electrotechnics, electronics, instrumentation, industrial automation, control systems, intelligent systems and informatics. Coordinated and taught various actions of vocational training in the fields of knowledge mentioned above. Professor with aggregation, Coordinator of the Department of Mechanical Engineering at ISEL;
Chairman of the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Coordinator of the Master´s in Maintenance Engineering, in the same institution. Member of IFAC Technical Committee SAFEPROCESS, Senior Member of IEEE, Society of Collaborative Networks (SoColNet), APCA, Sociedade Portuguesa de Robótica and Senior Member of the Order of Engineers.
Regarding research and development centers is a member of IDMEC - Instituto de Engenharia Mecânica (Pólo IST), LAETA – Laboratório Associado de Energia, Transportes e Aeronáutica and SOCIUS - Centro de Investigação em Sociologia Económica e das Organizações - ISEG.
Domains of Research Current research interests are: supervision of processes, detection and diagnosis of breakdowns, fault-tolerant control, collaborative systems, intelligent multi-agent systems, mobile robotics, cognitive rehabilitation, intelligent automatic control and image processing.
